Overview
Soltara Healing Center is a renowned retreat center working with the Amazonian plant medicine Ayahuasca under the guidance of Indigenous Peruvian Shipibo healers. We collaborate with clinical psychologists and a board of advisors, including Dr. Gabor Mate, Dr. Dennis McKenna, Dr. Bia Labate and Dr. Clancy Cavnar of the Chacruna Institute, to support a uniquely integrative approach to healing. With decades of combined experience holding ceremonies, our team allows participants to experience in-depth healing in a safe and loving environment.
Immersed in the tropical forests of Costa Rica, Soltara offers retreats of varying lengths and supports each guest with a full year of preparation and integration support. Our highly skilled, loving Shipibo healers and facilitators will guide each guest through their journey with plant medicine ceremonies, supportive holistic modalities, and modern psychotherapeutic practices.

Located on the calm and beautiful Gulf of Nicoya in the mountainous jungle of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula, named as one of the 5 “Blue Zones” of the world, gaze at the stars or awaken to sunrises over the water from our stardeck or ocean-view balconies.

In the lush mountains of Costa Rica’s Central Pacific Valley, our newest retreat space is alive with wildlife, tropical gardens, and protected rainforest near Carara National Park. Set along a historic wildlife corridor, home to over 400 species of birds with vibrant tropical gardens and groves, the land offers sweeping valley views, fresh mountain air, and a deep sense of peace.
Paved walking paths wind throughout the property, offering space to explore, reflect, and sit quietly beneath towering trees and flowering gardens. Eat fresh food grown right on the land through our permaculture project, and relax in spacious indoor and outdoor communal areas.
With newly built accommodations, a brand-new maloca, gym, spa, and saltwater pool, this center offers modern comforts immersed in the jungle and grounded in the living landscape.

Every private retreat at Soltara is held within the same care, structure, and integrity that guides all of our core programs.
This means you’re not starting from scratch. You’re stepping into a retreat container that has been thoughtfully developed over years of experience alongside our Shipibo Maestros, facilitators, and clinical advisors, to support safe, meaningful work with the medicine.
A Complete, Supported Container
Your retreat includes our full medicine and facilitation team:
- 2 Shipibo healers (Maestros)
- 3 facilitators + 1 assistant facilitator
- A dedicated Retreat Director
- A yoga teacher
- A full operational and guest support team behind the scenes
Our programming balances ceremony, preparation, integration, and rest – because what happens outside the ceremony is just as important as what happens within it.

Turnkey, With Room to Co-Create
For many hosts, it’s a relief to know the core of the retreat is already held – ceremonies, preparation, integration, and facilitation are all in place, with a team that is deeply experienced in working together.
At the same time, we understand that each group comes with its own intention.
If there are additional elements you’d like to weave in, such as group discussions, workshops, or specific areas of focus, we’re open to co-creating a schedule that reflects your vision, while staying grounded in what supports the medicine work.
Clear Boundaries That Protect the Work
All programming is designed in close collaboration with our Shipibo Maestros, and we follow a few important guidelines to maintain a safe and coherent container.
We do not include:
— Other plant medicines or substances
— Consciousness-altering practices outside of the Ayahuasca ceremonies
— Direct energetic healing modalities that may interfere with the ceremonial container
These boundaries are according to our Shipibo Maestros, and part of what allows the work with Ayahuasca to land clearly, without competing inputs or mixed signals.
At its core, this is a collaborative process.
We bring the structure, the team, and the experience. You bring your group, your intention, and your voice. Together, we create something that is both grounded and deeply supportive of the work your group has come to do.

Registration & Intakes
— Guests must go through our booking system for their registration and intake process (which includes an intake form, and any required follow-up, such as an intake call with our team and consultation with our therapist & medical advisor). We can coordinate it so that they do not see any invoicing or pricing if you prefer, but we will need to send them (and you) the registration and intake forms.
— Guests are only confirmed on our end once they go through our intake process, and an Ayahuasca retreat is deemed a good fit for them at this time. Soltara reserves the right not to confirm someone’s participation in the retreat if they are not approved through our intake process. If this happens, we typically offer a full refund of any deposit made – in the case of a private retreat, we will let you know if someone does not pass and will not be permitted to join the retreat.
Safety & Logistics
We require guests to go through our intake screening process, agree to & sign our Terms, Conditions, & Safety Waiver upon arrival. We will ask them to agree to this when they register, and we also ask that you please link to (or share the content from) the link above when advertising the retreat.

You can find our Travel Logistics Lists for Playa Blanca here and Emerald Valley here, which outline how we meet to get to Soltara. Dietary guidelines are included in the Preparation Packet sent to guests in advance and must be adhered to before the retreat.
Finally, in the off-chance that the retreat host or any guest contracts COVID or any illness/medical issue just before the retreat and is unable to come, it would still be important for us to be able to run the retreat and support the guests who are able to, if we are reserving and committing the spaces exclusively for your group.
Payment Terms
Option 1: Full Retreat Buyout – Flat Rate Pricing
For a full retreat buyout, we offer flat-rate pricing depending on location and program length.
Option 2: Group booking rates as part of a regular retreat
If your group is smaller, you’re welcome to join one of our scheduled retreats with a group rate, starting at 5 guests (including yourself).
The structure is simple: each guest equals 10% off.
You can choose to:
- Apply the full discount to your own stay, or
- Share 10% off with each member of the group
For example, 10 guests = a fully complimentary retreat for you, or 10% off for everyone.
