Ilan Goldenblatt

Retreat Director

Ilan was born and raised in Israel. At 24 he moved to Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, which has been his home base ever since.

Throughout his life, Ilan engaged in many avenues of change making, including peace activism, community activism, food activism, media activism and political work in the realm of Canadian Federal politics.

Ilan started drinking ayahuasca in 2004 in the underground scene in British Columbia. At the time he was the owner and manager of a popular restaurant which he founded and ran for 12 years. In 2015 he took the first of several trips to Peru to do master plant dietas, and to work as a facilitator and general manager of an ayahuasca healing center which was focused on master plant dietas, near Iquitos, in the Peruvian Amazon.

In between his medicine work, Ilan also managed four federal election campaigns in Canada, twice succeeding to get a Canadian member of parliament elected. He also served as the Chief of Staff to that MP for two years.

At the end of 2021 he left political work to focus full time on plant medicine work. Ilan believes that humanity is at the stage of “Transformation of Consciousness or Bust”, and that ayahuasca is one of the best ways to bring about human transformation of consciousness.

He joined the Soltara team in July 2022 as a facilitator and became one of our Directors of Retreats in April 2023.

Ilan is currently a student in the February 2023 cohort of Gabor Mate’s Compassionate Inquiry 12 month course for professionals.
